A few years ago this was a problem for me, every time I needed to find some important papers I had to dig through a massively stuffed drawer. It eventually became to much and I took the time to organize everything into folders.
Then the issue was ok so what if there was fire, they were still not even remotely safe as is. I remembered as kid my parents had a Master Lock file box that was designed to stand up to being in a fire.  This has been a thought I’ve had for a while that we needed to get one. Then not to long ago I was contacted by Master Lock to review the Master Lock 7148D Storage Security File Box, and funny enough it almost is identical to what my parents had.

It has just the right amount of space at 6″ (15.2cm) x 13-1/2″ (34.3cm) x 10-1/2″ (26.7cm) for any important documents you might need to have handy and safe, such as tax documents, birth certificates, marriage certificate, vehicle titles and any other documents you would not want to lose as most cost a considerable amount of money to replace.

Comes with 2 keys so everything stays secure inside the strong steel box, and is designed to have hanging folders inside so everything stays organized.

It is fire retardent so in a fire you can expect that your documents might stay somewhat intact. With it being a metal box however I would never suggest putting any sort of discs with important data on them. They would not survive.
